 German I

Welcome to your first year of German!  I started studying German when I was in the 7th grade back in 1993, and I liked it enough to keep at it.  I took AP German my junior year of high school, and as a senior I studied abroad as an exchange student in the Bavarian Alps.  In college I majored in German and studied abroad for three semesters in Berlin, to this day my favorite city on Earth.  Now that I teach German, it is my sincere hope that I can instil some love for Germany and its language and culture in you this year.

This year we will focus on the basics, naturally, such as introductions, weather, days/months, food, etc.  We will spend a lot of time on grammar such as verbs and their conjugation, word order, and the nominative and accusative cases.  We will focus on the first six chapters of your blue Deutsch Aktuell textbook, but will frequently venture away from it.  We will play a lot of games and do a lot of projects both inside the classroom and out.  Even though it is your first year, we will be speaking as much German as possible.
